About Fort Atkinson
Fort Atkinson is a generous and dedicated community. The citizens of Fort Atkinson are civic-minded, with over 80 clubs and service organizations, which offer a variety of community services. We have a food pantry, a free medical and dental clinic, a literacy council, a public library, and a museum.
Thanks to its many donors, the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation annually awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to local non-profit organizations in support of its mission to enhance the quality of life in Fort Atkinson. Recent projects supported by the Foundation include the expansion and renovation of the Dwight Foster Public Library, extension of the city’s downtown riverwalk, expansion of the Hoard Historical Museum, music trailer for the school district’s performing arts department, playground equipment and park enhancements, and the bike trail/pedestrian and shelters.
Local service clubs such as Rotary, Lions, Optimists, Kiwanis, and many others, provide strong support to the community through the generosity of citizens who donate their time and money to the betterment of the community. Fort Atkinson is also home to the regional United Way providing assistance to non-profit and social service agencies in Jefferson and North Walworth Counties.
