Action Steps to Create & Sustain Internships
Interns are a source of talent for the short-term, and a cost-effective way to recruit and evaluate potential employees. Students who have completed a successful internship experience with you are great ambassadors for your organization. There are many positive reasons to host internship(s), yet they do require some planning and commitment on your part.
Session participants will gain an understanding of how to construct a sustainable internship program, including action steps to determine needs, recruit qualified interns, as well as hear from students about what they desire in a work environment.
Speakers include:
Ron Buchholz serves as the Director of Career & Leadership Development at UW-Whitewater, a department charged with the career development of students. Working at UW-Whitewater since 1984, Ron thoroughly enjoys working with businesses interested in recruiting UW-Whitewater students for internships and jobs after graduation.
Bill Lowell is a professor of Communication at UW-Whitewater. Bill also serves as the Director of Interns for the Department of Communication, placing dozens of students in internship roles annually.
JonWalter Rhines is a junior attending UW-Whitewater, majoring in communications with a strong interest in entrepreneurism. JonWalter serves as an intern in the Career & Leadership Development department, with the responsibility to inform students about local internship opportunities.
