All Day - Temporary Exhibit "Before the Storm: Jefferson County before WWII" On exhibit through Wednesday, December 29 during museum hours
For the next four years, the Jefferson County historical societies are collaborating on joint programs and events to highlight World War II. All Americans were impacted by the events of World War II--Soldiers enlisted from all Jefferson County communities, businesses were impacted by the war, and families had to adjust to the new economy and family dynamics during wartime. This countywide program series will allow all of our museums to interpret their local stories and share our history with our townspeople, and our neighboring communities.
The first event will focus on the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and be held on Saturday, December 11 from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Hoard Historical Museum. The event will display artifacts from throughout Jefferson County, host speaker Jennifer Van Haaften from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum with her presentation “Pearl Harbor: The United States Enters a Global Conflict,” commemorate the veterans of WWII, and screen the PBS documentary film, “Pearl Harbor: Into the Arizona.” Reservations are not needed to attend the event; we hope to see you here!
