    Farmer Market Manager

    Organizational Background/Mission
    The Fort Farmers Market is a program of the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce; a private, non-profit, membership-driven organization focused on promoting and maintaining a strong business community in the Fort Atkinson area. The Fort Farmers Market Mission is to celebrate local foods and arts while nurturing neighbor-to-producer relationships; cultivating healthy communities; integrating sustainable practices and building local economy.
     
    Position Description
    Part-time/Year Round/Reports to Executive Director
    Hourly: $15 per hour
    Responsible for the planning and managing of weekly operations of the Fort Atkinson Farmers Market
    (Winter Markets Jan – April; Summer Market May - Oct; Holiday Market - Dec)
     
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Seek and secure appropriate mix of vendors
    • Determine scope of programming and oversee calendar of activity
    • Oversee annual budget and petty cash process
    • Manage marketing strategy (ads, social media, PR,)
    • Develop and manage positive relationships with vendors, volunteers, sponsors, community partners and customers
    • Supervise market day activities and logistics
    • Participate in staff/committee/advisory meetings as requested
    • Collect, review and report out on market data
    • Oversee compliance with all city, county, state and federal regulations
     
    Specific Projects/Activities:
    Food Access Programs: Power of Produce Program, Double Up Bucks, WI Foodshare Program, Food Pantry Donations                 
     
    Customer Programs: Frequent Shopper, Market Bucks, Surveys
                  
    Knowledge, Experience and Education Preferred
    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in sales/marketing, event planning, business or agri-business
    • Experience with farmer markets and/or locally-grown products
    • Knowledge and familiarity with the City of Fort Atkinson
    • Experience in customer service and communications
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power point, etc) or similar program
    • Proficient in Social Media Platform and/or ability to learn technology easily

Ability to relate to diverse audiences (business member organizations, media, volunteers, customer population and market vendors). Professional demeanor in communication, dress and speech is essential. Must be able to calmly multi-task, meet deadlines, and be accountable for measurable goals. Must be self-directed and task-oriented.
