Summary of Job
Seasonal Parks Maintenance Staff perform a variety of tasks and labor work as assigned by the Parks Maintenance Supervisor and City Staff within the City of Fort Atkinson Parks & Recreation Department. Seasonal staff are employed from May/June thru August working up to 40 hours per week in the areas of Parks and Recreation. The normal hours of work are 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Beginning wage of $12.22 per hour. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required.
Responsibilities
- Cuts grass, weeds, and brush using power and hand tools.
- Cleans and maintains public grounds and equipment, including pickup of litter and trash, raking leaves and debris, sweeping surfaces, and moving equipment.
- Cleans and maintains public buildings/shelters, including replenishing stock, cleaning bathroom fixtures, and washing windows.
- Maintains clean, attractive, and safe park areas including lawns, athletic fields, natural areas, playgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, parking lots, and pavilions.
- Moves and sets up for park functions requiring moving tables, bleachers, and chairs for concerts and special events.
- Performs athletic ballfield field preparation and maintenance.
- Collects garbage, refuse, and trash.
- Operates City vehicles and equipment in a safe manner.
Qualifications
Must be 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
Must possess the strength and stamina to physically labor outdoors under all climate conditions.
