    Organizational Background/Mission
    The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit, membership-driven organization comprised of more than 350 business enterprises, civic organizations, and educational institutions focused on addressing the business community’s needs. As a strategic partner in developing economic prosperity, the chamber offers a high profile, challenging opportunity for individuals interested in business development. Its mission is “to promote and maintain a strong business community in the Fort Atkinson area.”
    Position Description
    Full time, $55,000-$60,000
    Reports to Chamber Board of Directors
    Basic Function: the Executive Director is the chief paid executive and administrative officer of the organization.

    Essential Responsibilities 

    Program of Work - Identify Chamber and community needs and prepare/manage a program of work designed to meet these needs. Evaluate programming and measure progress toward attainment of program and community goals.
    Processes and Procedures – Maintain structures for effective and efficient management, and recommend to the Board such changes in structure and procedures as needed.
    Income and Expenses -Work with Budget and Finance Committee to develop annual budget as relates to program goals. Responsible for all expenditures and monthly financial statements of income and expenses for Board approval.
    Membership - Oversee membership issues and maintain membership levels to ensure necessary income for program operations. Work with the Ambassadors (the goodwill arm of the chamber) on member recruitment and retention.
    Staff - Hire and supervise staff as indicated by the program of work, conduct training, and build teams to accomplish program of work.
    Interpretation of Policy - Ensure Chamber policy, as established by the Board, is properly recorded in minutes and indexes in the Policy Manual. Assist with interpretation of policy and preparation of statements on public issues.
    Headquarters - Oversight of the overall upkeep of headquarters building and grounds.
    Long-Range Planning - Responsible for maintaining continuity and consistency in programming under the direction of a constantly evolving Board of Directors and an annually changing roster of officers. Anticipate emerging and long-range problems to meet such problems.
    LiaisonEarn and maintain respect and confidence of the Board, Chamber members, staff, and community.
    Preferred Qualifications 
    Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
    Superb interpersonal and communications skills
    Proven management and problem-solving skills
    Strong accounting background
    Proficient in the use of modern technology and social media platforms
    Resides in Fort Atkinson or Koshkonong Township and knowledgeable about Fort Atkinson business community
