Taking advantage of the warm weather the City of Fort Atkinson will begin road and utility work
earlier than usual this year.
The 2024 right-of-way work will focus on water main replacement on Cloute St. (all), Zaffke St.
(Caswell St. to Messmer St.), Caswell St. (Roosevelt to Zaffke) and Nelson St. (Messmer to
Madison Ave). In addition, sanitary sewer replacement will occur on Maple St. (6th St. to Park
St.), Grant St (6th St to Park St.), Park St (Grant St. to Grove St.), and a short section of Grove

K-9 Veterans Day is celebrated on March 13 and on this day, K-9 breeders and handlers honor
the service of their furry companions. K-9s serve vital roles in the military and law enforcement
and the Fort Atkinson Police Department is proud to have a K-9 program that serves the
community.
The City of Fort Atkinson has had three K-9 officers since 2015. Currently, K-9 Officer Smitty

The City of Fort Atkinson has named its next Parks and Recreation Director. Ben Dayton of Fort Atkinson has accepted the position. Dayton is currently the Director of Recreation for the Lake Mills Area School District and has 13 years of experience in the field of recreation.
Dayton was selected as the finalist after two rounds of interviews, a presentation and emotional intelligence assessment.

After nearly eight years with the Fort Atkinson Police Department Officer Stephen Riggs had his last call Tuesday, Feb. 27. He was celebrated with a get together at the Fort Atkinson Police Department.
Riggs was hired by the Fort Atkinson Police Department in April 2016. He is also a part time Law Enforcement Instructor at Blackhawk Technical College and served the Dane County Sheriff’s Department for three years. Prior to his employment as a police officer, Riggs served his country in the United
