Chamber Spotlight - Marissa Weidenfeller

▪️ What do you do professionally, and what do you love most about your career?

I am currently the Communications & Community Engagement Specialist for the School District of Fort Atkinson. I am a Fort Schools Alumna, and I am passionate about helping the kids in our community succeed in life, whatever that may look like. I am very thankful for the opportunities Fort provided me growing up, and I hope I can pay it forward. We have a strong community and I want to play a part in maintaining and improving our quality of life here.

▪️ What is your history with the Fort Chamber?

I've been involved with the Fort Chamber since 2015. Besides being a Chamber Ambassador, I am currently the chairperson for the holiday parade, and I volunteer on multiple committees and programming including Rhythm on the River, senior portfolio interviews, careers presentations at the high school, FBLA presentations at the middle school, Lemonade Day marketing presenter, career fair at the middle school, and the Farmers Market

▪️ What is a fun fact that people might not know about you?

Most people who know me, are aware of my obsession with my dogs. I have a 6 year old husky named Jax, and a recently adopted (thanks Paddy's Paws!) tripod mixed breed named Kyra. One fact that people might not know about me is that I am a huge history nerd and I love learning about the 'haunted' history of a place. Last fall, my brother and I went on a ghost hunt with a tour group at an abandoned asylum up in Sheboygan. It was super creepy!

▪️ As a cheerleader of all things Fort Atkinson, what is your favorite part about living and working in Fort Atkinson?

I am proud to have been born and raised in Fort Atkinson. Of the many things that I love about Fort Atkinson, I would have to say that the sense of community and the family-friendly organizations and events are what make me happy to live here. There are so many organizations to get involved with, and give back to. I believe that the more people get involved within their community, the more they will enjoy it. We are all a piece of the puzzle that makes up Fort Atkinson. It's a choice to work with the other pieces to make it beautiful.
