FCCU Recognizes Six Team Members for Financial Counselor Designation
FORT ATKINSON – (October 10, 2019) – Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) is pleased to recognize six team members for recently earning their Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation. To receive the CCUFC designation each team member completed a rigorous training program aimed at identifying member financial challenges, providing intervention and offering assistance not typically offered by for-profit financial institutions.
Anna Hirschfeld, Yolanda Ramirez and Staci Schoenrock received their initial CCUFC certification in 2016 and were recently recertified. Berenice Delgado, Josie Simonson, and Whitney Townsend passed their certification testing in September. Each team member completed a 16-week program offered by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) involving self-study, online learning and two full days of testing.
“This certification adds increased muscle to what we as a credit union have been promoting for years,” said Sue Johnson, President and CEO of FCCU. “It all goes back to our mission statement, when we say that we want to help every member be in a better financial position than when we met them, we mean it. When people fall on hard times, it can be overwhelming to navigate them without any guidance. With six certified financial counselors, two of whom are fluent in Spanish, our members have more resources available to them when they are in need. I am very proud of Anna, Berenice, Josie, Staci, Yolanda, and Whitney for taking the initiative to become certified. With this training, they have the potential to make a huge impact in our members’ lives.”
Each financial counselor will have to be recertified every three years to ensure that their financial counseling knowledge is current.
