Newcomers Group Sets First Meeting
Newcomers Group Starting in Fort Atkinson
A group of citizens interested in welcoming new residents to Fort Atkinson has started a Newcomers Group to help people connect socially and learn more about the community.
The first gathering will be held at the Dwight Foster Library on Wednesday, February 27, and every fourth Wednesday thereafter, through October. The library is located at 209 Merchants Avenue in Fort Atkinson. Guests should plan to arrive by 6:30pm.
New resident Barbara Brouwer is organizing the first meeting. “Fort Atkinson is a really friendly community,” she said, having recently moved to start her acupuncture business. “Still, it’s nice to know someone who can help you figure out where things are and how things work. I’m hoping the people who come to these gatherings will determine the direction the group wants to go.”
To further incentivize attendance, Barbara is asking everyone who comes to the first meeting to bring a dessert to share. It does not have to be home made. The monthly events are also open to existing residents interested in meeting new people.
No RSVPs are necessary, but anyone who wants to assist with set-up or greeting is asked to contact Barbara at 517.256.9586.
