  • Come wander through the former home of Frank and Luella Hoard, the youngest son of Governor Hoard, the Lincoln Library, and the Mysteries of the Mounds  to discover the people and events that make up Fort Atkinson’s history. Get acquainted with our dairy heritage and explore the museum’s impressive collection of artifacts, artwork, and family friendly activities. During warm weather, don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers in the five beautifully maintained gardens.

  • Cycle the scenic Glacial River Bike Trail on this mostly paved converted rail bed. Open year-round, this 31.5-mile bike trail passes by farmsteads, bronze sculptures, prairie flowers, woods, over streams, and through a rustic, red covered bridge.

    Passing right through historic downtown, take advantage of the sites by fishing boat, canoe, or kayak. Float out to Lake Koshkonong, where more fishing and boating opportunities abound.

  • Play this historic and stunning 18-hole course situated among native effigy mounds. After tackling the course, enjoy a meal and cocktail while taking in the breathtaking views (especially at sunset!)

     

  • The perfect place for family fun, the Aquatic Center features 175 feet of water slides, two pools, fountains, and wet-sand playgrounds for children of all ages. Take a step back in time with a tour of the old fort replica to see how Fort Atkinson found its name. 

  • The uniquely designed seashell-shaped band shell in Barrie Park is the place to be on select summer nights. Bring your picnic blanket or folding chairs to enjoy the pre-concert ice cream social while listening to melodies varying from folk music, Latin rhythms, big band swing, or Broadway medleys.

     

  • On the national registry of historic places, Fort Atkinson’s downtown blends historic and contemporary architecture, and makes for an interesting walking tour. Main Street offers local shops and restaurants, and access to the Riverwalk.
